Orientation:
Upright: 90°
In the charpy impact test according to DIN EN ISO 148-1, the material toughness is determined on the basis of the notched bar impact energy.
The test is carried out at room temperature as standard. On request, the test can also be carried out at lower temperatures down to -80°C. For a separate charge and on request, we can also carry out the test for you in the low temperature range at -196°C.
The machining of the standardised test specimens with V-notch in our laboratory is included in the price. Alternatively, a U-notch is possible on request.
Demonstration of the achieved notched bar impact energy according to DIN EN ISO 148-1
Mechanical production of a set of specimens consisting of 3 test specimens
Indication of the specimen cross-section [cm2]
Indication of the specimen shape and the specimen location
Indication of the test temperature [°C]
Determination of the impact energy for each specimen including mean value [J]
Indication of the impact energy related to the standard cross-section [J/cm2]
TÜV NORD test report as pdf file
Test performance at room temperature. (Higher or lower temperatures on request).

Optionally we offer you the possibility to have your test specimens stored for a fee at the Institut für Materialprüfung of the TÜV NORD. Depending on your wishes, we will either store the test specimens that have not yet been tested as reserve specimens for a test that may be required at a later date,
or
we store the test specimen residues for you to preserve evidence after the test has been carried out.
All test specimens that you order together with the retention are stored by TÜV NORD Institut für Materialprüfung (IFM). In the case of test specimen models that you have ordered without testing, the test specimens that you have included in the build job can be sent along and then stored without being tested. A test can then be booked at a later date. In case of ordered tests for your specimens, the destroyed specimens will be stored after the test has been carried out as usual.
You choose a specimen with testing included:
You immediately receive a digital print template as an STL-file for your needed tests.
Build it along with your part as an accompanying sample in your build job.
Use the included shipping label to send the sample to us at no extra cost.
We test the sample according to the standard, and you receive your test report as a PDF-file via E-Mail.
The remaining material is stored for the timeframe you choose.
You choose a digital specimen (without immediate testing):
You immediately receive a digital print template as an STL-file for your needed tests.
Build it along with your part as an accompanying sample in your build job.
Use the included shipping label to send the sample to us without extra costs.
We retain the untested specimen for the timeframe you choose.
If need arises – for example by customer request – you can simply add a test and the retained specimen are tested according to the standard.

All test specimens that you order together with this storage service are stored at TÜV NORD Institut für Materialprüfung (IFM).
The specimens of your current order are stored and tested according to your wishes either immediately or only when required. The storage takes place in our laboratory.
The minimum storage period for retained specimens is one year and can be extended up to four weeks before expiry. If no extension is ordered, by ordering this product you agree to the destruction of the retained specimens after the agreed retainment period.
Three months and four weeks before the storage period expires, you will receive an email with an invoice for the extension. At this point, you can still terminate the storage. Of course, you can request specimens from storage at any time or have the specimens returned after the storage period has expired.
