How does the testing process work?
-
Choose the test
Choose the specimen required for the test you want to have performed. Click on “Details” to configurate your test. - Build your specimen
You receive the specimens digitally. Put them next to your parts in the build job you would like to check and print them. - Send them in
Send the specimen to TÜV NORD using the included shipping label. The requested tests are performed in an accredited laboratory. - Receive proof
You will receive a certificate with all the values determined in the test. This provides the basis from which conclusions can be drawn about the build job.

The quality of the base material is crucial for the quality of the final product. To fully utilize the advantages of additive manufacturing, the necessary quality and reliability requirements must also be met. This is achieved through material testing by Alter | HTV.
Triple sampling from the powder sample
Evaluation at up to 10 locations per sample (total of 30 locations)
Determination of particle size distribution using a scanning electron microscope (measurement of structures/particles from 0.5 µm possible)
Measurement of the equivalent circular diameter/circumscribed circular diameter
Measurement in accordance with
DIN ISO 9276 / ISO 13322-1
Determination of median (D50), mean value, D10, and D90 of the particle size distribution
Measurement of plastic powder using FTIR spectroscopy
Measurement of one IR spectrum and comparison with the Alter | HTV
Material identification is only possible if it is listed in the database
3D X-ray tomography of an additively manufactured component
Imaging of the component in 3D-CT mode
Calculation of a three-dimensional volume model
Examination of the component for pores and/or inclusions
Documentation and measurement of the 5 largest defects
If required, results can be provided via HTV-Cloud as
.vgl or .vgarchive files, which can be viewed with the free
myVGL viewer
Includes a short report with sample views of cross-sections in the 3D model (German)
Note: The resolution is a maximum of 50 µm and depends on the size of the examined area and the part geometry.Sample DimensionsMaximum 8.5 cm x 8.5 cm x 8.5 cm / max. 2 kg
